Like the new LR4 and classic Range Rover, the Range Rover Sport also gets plenty of upgrades for the 2010 model year. Like the regular RR, the Sport gets the same 5.0L direct-inject V8s from Jaguar in either naturally aspirated or supercharged guise plus a new six-speed automatic transmission. The NA puts out 375 hp and 375 lb-ft of torque while the force fed mill creates 510 hp and 461 lb-ft of torque, the latter good for 5.9-second sprints to 60 mph. The Sport's exterior has also been tweaked with a new two-bar grille centered in the revised front end and new rear tail-lamps nestled above a redesigned rear bumper. The interior has also been redone with higher quality materials and a new steering wheel that includes paddle shifters on the supercharged model. Throw in enough electronic nannies to make even the Queen look like a good driver and you've got an eminently more capable sports SUV than the one it replaces.

The news in short:
  • All-new efficient and powerful LR-V8 engines.
  • LR-V8 5.0 liter Supercharged 510 bhp and 461 lb/ft torque.
  • 5.0-liter V8 naturally aspirated with 375 bhp and 375 lb/ft torque

  • Striking exterior design changes create a more stylish and sporting look.
  • Redesigned interior bringing new levels of refinement and craftsmanship.
  • Steering wheel with paddle-shift gear change on Supercharged model.
  • Chassis refinements including active damping, new brakes and updates to the Terrain ResponseTM system, bringing even greater breadth of capability.
Cutting edge technologies including available surround camera system with tow assist, and a high beam assist option.

Land Rover's Range Rover Sport is very popular among celebrity and pop-culture icons, but with the modifications that Tiret New York and LSE Design have managed, the Tiret Coupe takes the vehicle to another level. Wider flared arches, LED lighting, 22in LSE alloy wheels and a full panoramic glass sunroof are just a few of the key changes that make up the Tiret Coupe transformation. Tapping the company's past work with timepieces and jewelry with the likes of Damon Dash, the Tiret Coupe gets special diamond dials and the unique ‘Tiret clock’. Inside, the Tiret Coupe also gets Nappa leather seating, fine wood trim and real diamond accents throughout the cabin.

Opulent is an understatement. Unveiled this week at the Baselworld 2009 show in Basel, Switzerland, the vehicle is now available for ordering - by appointment only.

Welcome to the Tiret Coupe Range Rover

Land Rover cancels G4 Challenge

As a result of the world wide financial crisis, Land Rover has cancelled the G4 Challenge, which was suposed to be a fund generating activity for charity, mainly for the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. The aim was to generate approx. £1 million ($1.49 mill.) over the course of two programs.

When asked why the program was being abandoned, the managing director of Land Rover stated that "given the severity of the global economic downturn and trading conditions, we need to make some tough decisions and that means prioritizing our budgets on new product launches. We are disappointed for the competitors who have shown so much commitment and put tremendous effort into succeeding as representatives of their nation. We have and will continue to take swift and decisive actions for the benefit of the business; unfortunately that means the Land Rover G4 Challenge has to come to an early close."

The program was to take competitors through 18 countries and be an "ultimate test of team spirit and physical fitness". The entire Land Rover fleet was supposed to be involved, with the Range Rover Sport, Freelander 2 and Discovery 3 all earmarked for duty.

Facelifted Range Rover Sport

Prototypes for Land Rover’s facelifted Range Rover Sport have been spotted again, this time undergoing cold weather testing in Northern Europe. The performance SUV already received a series of upgrades in 2007, including the introduction of a 3.6L twin turbo diesel V8, so for its next update the list of changes have been kept to a minimum.

The facelifted SUV is due to hit the streets by the middle of this year and is likely to be available with the existing 3.6L diesel as well as a new 5.0L V8 engine. This is the same unit that recently debuted in the all-new Jaguar XFR, although the Range Rover Sport will likely miss out on the supercharger as well as the 510hp (380kW) output.

Another possibility is the introduction of a V6 twin-turbo diesel, likely to be the new 3.0L unit used by Jaguar for its XF Diesel S. The commonrail turbodiesel V6 engine is rated at 271hp (202kW) and 443lb-ft (600Nm) of torque.

In addition to the engine upgrade, the new Sport will also receive a slightly revised face including a new grille design that’s reminiscent of the Land Rover Freelander/LR2 as well as a new front bumper. The side vents will also feature a slightly different design to the ports on the current model, and the headlights will be updated as well.
